Team USA announced forward Brady Tkachuk left Monday’s 2-1 loss to Sweden with an injury and didn’t return to play.

The Ottawa Senators captain exited in the first period after colliding with the Swedish net. He briefly returned to the bench but didn’t take another shift before being ruled out of the game.

“[Tkachuk was held out] more for precautionary reasons,” Team USA head coach Mike Sullivan told Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Sullivan expects Tkachuk to play in Thursday’s final against Canada.

The injury adds to Team USA’s growing list of sidelined players:

  • Matthew Tkachuk (lower-body injury)
  • Auston Matthews (upper-body injury)
  • Charlie McAvoy (upper-body injury)

Vincent Trocheck also left temporarily after taking a puck to the hand but returned to finish the game.

Brady Tkachuk has scored 2 goals in the tournament. He’s recorded 44 points in 56 games with Ottawa this NHL season.
