The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-2 Saturday night, snapping a lengthy regulation winless streak.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson recorded a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to a career-best nine games. The defenseman’s streak ties for second-longest by a defenseman in franchise history.
Ekman-Larsson has collected three goals and seven assists during the nine-game run.
The victory marked Toronto’s first regulation win since November 5. The Maple Leafs improved to 3-6-2 in their last 11 games with the convincing road performance.
Auston Matthews, Nicolas Roy and Bobby McMann each contributed a goal and an assist for Toronto. Morgan Rielly recorded two assists to become the third defenseman in team history to reach 100 multipoint games.

Goaltender Dennis Hildeby made his first start since November 13 and stopped 32 shots for the Maple Leafs.
Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby reached another milestone despite the loss. He scored his 641st career goal, passing Dave Andreychuk for 15th on the NHL’s all-time list.
Crosby also recorded an assist to pass Mario Lemieux for most home points in Penguins history with 941. The achievement also gave him sole possession of seventh-most home points in league history.
Ben Kindel added a power-play goal for Pittsburgh. The Penguins fell to 4-5-3 in their last 12 games after starting the season 8-2-2.
Arturs Silovs struggled early for Pittsburgh, allowing four goals on 10 shots before being replaced by Tristan Jarry in the second period. Silovs has been pulled in consecutive starts and has allowed eight goals on his last 20 shots faced.
Jarry stopped 10 shots in relief.
Toronto jumped out early as Ekman-Larsson and Easton Cowan scored on two of the Maple Leafs’ first three shots. The quick start gave Toronto a 2-1 lead after one period.
McMann and Dakota Joshua struck within the first five minutes of the second period to help the Maple Leafs pull away. McMann deflected Rielly’s point shot past Silovs while Joshua scored on a quick turnaround from the top of the crease.
