The New York Islanders announced Saturday that forward Kyle Palmieri will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

Palmieri will be sidelined for six-to-eight months following the procedure.

The 34-year-old suffered the injury Friday after getting tangled up with Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Jamie Drysdale while battling for the puck near the boards. He still managed to get an assist on a goal as he was leaving the ice.

Palmieri has recorded six goals and 12 assists in 25 games during the 2025-26 season.

The veteran center signed a two-year, $9.5-million extension in May. He was traded to the Islanders from the New Jersey Devils in April 2021.

The injury represents a significant blow to the Islanders’ forward depth. Palmieri’s timeline would potentially keep him out through the remainder of the regular season and playoffs if the team team qualifies.
