The Anaheim Ducks announced Friday that goalie Lukas Dostal will miss two-to-three weeks with an upper-body injury.

The team made the announcement before their game against the Los Angeles Kings. Ville Husso started in net with Petr Mrazek serving as backup.

Dostal’s absence is a significant blow for the Ducks, who sit in first place in the Pacific Division.

The 25-year-old goalie has posted an 11-5-1 record this season with a 2.81 goals against average and .904 save percentage. He’s been especially strong at home, winning eight of nine starts at Honda Center.

Dostal was selected by Anaheim in the third round of the 2018 NHL Draft.

His emergence over the past two seasons allowed the Ducks to move on from longtime starter John Gibson. The team traded Gibson to the Detroit Red Wings on June 28 for Mrazek, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2026 fourth-round selection.

The injury timeline puts Dostal’s return sometime in mid-to-late January, depending on his recovery progress.

Husso and Mrazek will now split goaltending duties while Dostal recovers. Husso made his fourth start of the season Friday night against Los Angeles.

The Ducks haven’t indicated whether they’ll recall a goalie from their AHL affiliate in San Diego to provide additional depth during Dostal’s absence.
