The Carolina Hurricanes erupted for five second-period goals in a 7-4 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets at PNC Arena.
Seth Jarvis led the offensive outburst with four points (2 goals, 2 assists), while Sebastian Aho contributed three points (1 goal, 2 assists).
Frederik Andersen earned his 300th NHL win, stopping 18 shots and adding an assist in his second start since returning from injury.
The Hurricanes scored five times in an 8:46 span during the second period – the fifth-fastest five-goal stretch in franchise history. Carolina outshot Columbus 24-3 in that period.
Eric Robinson, Jackson Blake, Jordan Martinook and Jesperi Kotkaniemi also scored for the Hurricanes, who have won four straight games. Martin Necas recorded two assists.
The Blue Jackets built an early lead on first-period goals from Kent Johnson and Kirill Marchenko. James van Riemsdyk and Dmitri Voronkov scored in the second period.
Marchenko has now scored five goals in three games against Carolina this season.
Daniil Tarasov made 36 saves for Columbus.
The win marks Carolina’s longest streak since early November. Jarvis has been crucial during this stretch, scoring nine goals in his last 10 games.
This was the second time this season the Hurricanes have scored five goals in a period, matching their Nov. 25 third-period performance against Dallas.
The Blue Jackets return home to face Los Angeles on Saturday in their only home game during a two-week stretch. The Hurricanes visit the New York Islanders on Saturday.
