Stars forward Hintz ruled out for Game 3 against Oilers with lower-body injury
The Dallas Stars announced forward Roope Hintz missed Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday due to a lower-body injury suffered in Game 2.
Hintz was considered a game-time decision and arrived at the arena without a walking boot, according to ESPN’s Emily Kaplan.
He attempted to test the injury during warmups but left after only a few minutes following a conversation with the training staff.
The 27-year-old forward was injured in Game 2 on Friday when Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse slashed him on top of his skates during the third period. Hintz needed help getting off the ice after the incident.

Officials reviewed the play for a possible major penalty but ultimately assessed Nurse a two-minute minor. Edmonton won the game 3-0, evening the Western Conference Final at 1-1.
Stars head coach Peter DeBoer criticized the officiating decision after Game 2, suggesting the slash would have resulted in a five-minute major penalty if Edmonton’s Connor McDavid had been the injured player.
Hintz has recorded 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) in 15 playoff games this postseason.
During the regular season, he ranked fourth on the Stars with 67 points (28 goals, 39 assists) in 76 games.
