Senators Trade 2 Picks to Acquire Spence From Kings image

The Ottawa Senators acquired defenseman Jordan Spence from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 sixth-round selection, both teams announced Saturday.

Spence has one year remaining on his contract at a $1.5-million cap hit before becoming a restricted free agent.

The 24-year-old recorded 24 points in 79 games this past season while averaging 16:47 of ice time per contest.

He’ll join a right-side defense corps that already features Artem Zub, Nick Jensen, and Nikolas Matinpalo.

The trade leaves the Senators with approximately $9.25 million in cap space, according to PuckPedia.

Spence’s acquisition gives Ottawa additional depth on the blue line as they continue reshaping their roster. The young defenseman brings NHL experience and offensive capability from the back end.

The Kings receive future draft capital in return, adding to their their prospect pipeline with picks in consecutive drafts.
