Shane Pinto left Tuesday’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning with an upper-body injury and did not return.
The Ottawa Senators center exited in the first period after absorbing a hit from Lightning defenseman Nick Perbix along the boards.
Pinto has recorded 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) through 45 games this season while centering Ottawa’s third line.
“It’s a big loss,” Senators head coach Travis Green said. “Does a lot of different things for our team. Big matchup guy.”
Green had no additional update on Pinto’s status following the 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
The injury comes at a difficult time for Ottawa, who recently lost center Josh Norris on a week-to-week basis.
With the win, the Lightning moved within two points of the Senators in the Atlantic Division standings.
