The Ottawa Senators erupted for seven goals in a dominant 7-2 victory over the Boston Bruins, extending their winning streak to three games.

Drake Batherson and Tim Stutzle each recorded two goals and an assist to pace Ottawa’s offensive explosion. Claude Giroux, Nick Cousins and Fabian Zetterlund also found the back of the net.

Leevi Merilainen stopped 26 shots for the victory.

The performance marked a bounce-back effort for the 23-year-old goaltender. Merilainen had allowed seven goals to the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 15 in his only other start this season.

Morgan Geekie opened the scoring for Boston on the game’s first shot following a defensive-zone turnover by Ottawa. The Bruins managed just one more goal until the final seconds when Viktor Arvidsson scored with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Jeremy Swayman made 17 saves for Boston, which sits in last place in the Atlantic Division.

Batherson’s first goal came on the power play and tied the game 1-1 at the midpoint of the opening period.

The offensive outburst continued Ottawa’s recent hot streak. Monday marked the first time since February 2023 the Senators have scored more than six goals in back-to-back wins. They put up seven against Washington on Saturday.

It’s not often a Toronto team gets hearty roars in the nation’s capital, but the Senators made an exception. They played the World Series game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers during the first and second intermissions, with most fans staying in their seats.
