Dallas Stars forward Mason Marchment won’t face discipline for slashing referee Graham Skilliter during Sunday’s Game 3 win over the Winnipeg Jets, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.
The league reviewed the incident, but determined no supplementary discipline was warranted. According to Friedman, it’s ultimately the on-ice official’s decision whether an incident qualifies as abuse of an official, and Skilliter decided this one did not.
The incident occurred when Marchment appeared frustrated with a non-call.
Mason Marchment just tapped an official (Graham Skilliter) on the shin pad because he was upset with a non-call.
You definitely can’t do that and I imagine some sort of discipline is coming. pic.twitter.com/fVchFshpJg
