The New York Rangers announced Wednesday that Matt Rempe has signed a two-year extension with the organization.
The deal carries an average annual value of $975,000.
Rempe appeared in 42 games for the Rangers during the 2024-25 season. The 22-year-old center recorded three goals and five assists while leading the team with 67 penalty minutes.
He was scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July 1.
The season wasn’t without challenges for Rempe. He dealt with injuries and received a suspension during the campaign.
The NHL suspended him for eight games after he elbowed Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen. This marked his second multi-game suspension in two seasons.
The Rangers’ season ended without a playoff berth in 2024-25. This came after the organization captured the Presidents’ Trophy during the previous season.
The extension keeps Rempe in New York through the 2026-27 season.
