Washington Capitals announced goaltender Logan Thompson would start Game 4 against the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night despite suffering an apparent lower-body injury in the previous game.
Thompson had to be helped off the ice during Wednesday’s contest when teammate Dylan Strome crashed into him during the third period of Washington’s 6-3 loss.

Before leaving Wednesday’s game, Thompson allowed five goals on 35 shots.
The 27-year-old netminder had been outstanding in the series’ first two games, posting a .951 save percentage and 1.47 goals-against average as the Capitals won both contests.
Thompson was listed as a game-time decision heading into Sunday’s matchup. He participated in the morning skate and worked in the starter’s net, though he exited the ice simultaneously with backup Charlie Lindgren.
Washington entered Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead over Montreal.
