The Boston Bruins shut out the Ottawa Senators 2-0 Thursday night, with Joonas Korpisalo stopping all 29 shots against his former team.

Korpisalo recorded his third shutout this season and seventh of his NHL career. The Bruins acquired him from Ottawa in June for Linus Ullmark.

Morgan Geekie scored the game-winner early in the second period off a wraparound feed from David Pastrnak. Pastrnak sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds.

Ottawa goaltender Anton Forsberg made 24 saves in the loss.

The Senators have now been shut out in consecutive games and five times in their last 11 contests. They lost 5-0 to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Boston successfully killed a crucial 5-on-3 penalty kill in the third period, not allowing a single shot during the 32-second two-man advantage after Patrick Brown took a delay-of-game penalty while already short-handed.

The Bruins have won nine of their last 11 home games (9-1-1). However, they’ve struggled overall recently, winning just four of their last 12 games.

Boston hosts the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday night. Ottawa returns home to face the Toronto Maple Leafs the same evening.
