The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Matthew Knies would miss Tuesday’s 3-2 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues with a lower-body injury.
The forward is considered day-to-day, according to the team.
Knies becomes the latest Maple Leafs player to deal with injury issues this season. Auston Matthews, Nicolas Roy, Scott Laughton, Chris Tanev, Brandon Carlo, and Anthony Stolarz are all currently sidelined.
The absence removes one of Toronto’s most productive players from the lineup.
Knies has 22 points in 19 games this season, ranking third on the team.
The Maple Leafs managed to secure the overtime victory despite missing multiple key contributors. The win helps maintain their position while dealing with a growing list of injured players.
Toronto hasn’t provided a specific timeline for Knies’ return, but the day-to-day designation suggests the injury isn’t considered long-term.
