The Winnipeg Jets extended their win streak to seven games with a 3-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, powered by Eric Comrie’s 29-save shutout and two power-play goals.

Comrie, who earned his third career shutout, backstopped the Jets to within one game of matching their season-opening eight-game win streak.

The Jets’ league-leading power play continued its dominance, with Nino Niederreiter and Neal Pionk converting on the man advantage. The team has now scored 51 power-play goals this season, tops in the NHL.

Winnipeg went 2-for-4 on the power play against Carolina’s top-ranked penalty kill unit, which hadn’t allowed a power-play goal in seven straight games.

Rasmus Kupari added an even-strength goal at 16:17 of the third period. The goal initially was waved off for goaltender interference but stood after a successful coach’s challenge.

Carolina’s Pyotr Kochetkov made 27 saves in the loss.

The Hurricanes thought they had scored first when Jackson Blake found the net during a late first-period power play, but the goal was overturned on a coach’s challenge for goaltender interference.

Winnipeg’s Vladislav Namestnikov also had a goal disallowed in the third period for kicking the puck into the net.

The Jets’ power play has converted 8 of 16 opportunities over their last six games.

Carolina travels to Minnesota for a Thursday matchup, while Winnipeg hosts the New York Islanders on Friday.
