USA Hockey announced Tuesday the 44 NHL players who will attend an off-ice Olympic orientation camp Aug. 26-27 in Plymouth, Michigan.
All three Hughes brothers made the cut: Quinn, Jack, and Luke.
Here’s the full list of invitees:
= Named to Olympic roster in June as part of the six-player announcement by each competing country
= Represented USA at February’s 4 Nations Face-Off
= Represented USA at a previous Olympics
Forwards
The forward group includes several marquee names from across the league.
*Matthew Tkachuk, who was already named to the team in June, was invited to camp but is unable to attend.
Defense
The defensive corps features a mix of veteran leadership and emerging talent.
Goalies
Three netminders received invitations to the orientation camp.
The final 25-man roster is expected to be announced by early January. Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is the GM of the Olympic team, with New York Rangers bench boss Mike Sullivan serving as head coach.
Reigning Calder Trophy winner Lane Hutson is among the most notable omissions.
Players not invited to the orientation camp can still make the Olympic roster, though.
The men’s hockey tournament runs from Feb. 12-22 in Milan. It’ll be the first Winter Games including NHLers since 2014.
The Americans haven’t won a men’s Olympic hockey gold medal since 1980.
