The NHL won’t hand down supplemental discipline to Anaheim Ducks forward Leo Carlsson for his hit on Florida Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues, according to The Athletic’s Eric Stephens.
Carlsson received a five-minute interference major and game misconduct after his shoulder caught Rodrigues in the head during the opening minute of Tuesday’s third period.
The officials reviewed the play and upheld the call on the ice.
Leo Carlsson initially gets charged with a five-minute major on this hit to the side of Evan Rodrigues to open a Ducks power play.
Referees review it, and it is upheld. 5 minute major for interference and a game misconduct for head contact.

Rodrigues couldn’t return to the game after the hit. He’s been playing a key role for Florida this season, moving from wing to center while captain Aleksander Barkov remains out for the year.
Rodrigues started Tuesday’s game centering the Panthers’ top line between Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart.
Carlsson is having a breakout campaign with 18 points in 12 games. The 19-year-old center has never been suspended during his three-year NHL career.
The decision means Carlsson will be available for the Ducks’ next game. Anaheim is looking to build momentum after their recent win over Florida.
