Canada avoided the upset despite losing their leader.
Nick Suzuki tied the game late in the third period. Mitch Marner won it in overtime to send Canada to the semifinals.
Crosby entered the quarterfinal with six points in three games at these Winter Games. It’s his third Olympics and first since 2014.
Czech defenseman Gudas said after the game he was just finishing his check and hoped Crosby was okay, according to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun.
Line Changes
Nathan MacKinnon moved up to Canada’s top line with Connor McDavid and Macklin Celebrini after Crosby’s injury.
Suzuki replaced Crosby between Marner and Mark Stone.
Celebrini took over Crosby’s spot on the top power-play unit.
This season with Pittsburgh, Crosby leads the Penguins with 27 goals and 59 points in 56 games.
