The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday they’ve signed forward Frank Nazar to a seven-year contract extension worth $6.59 million per season.

The deal kicks in for the 2026-27 season. Nazar’s currently in the final year of his entry-level contract.

This marks the largest contract ever given to a forward with Nazar’s limited NHL experience of just 56 career games, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

Kirill Kaprizov previously held that record with his five-year, $45-million deal in 2021 after 55 games.

“Frank elevated his game last season and has proven himself to be one of the top young talents in the league. He drives play using his elite speed and playmaking abilities, creating problems for opponents and opportunities for teammates every night. Frank is an integral piece of our team, and we’re thrilled to have him with us for the next eight seasons.”

That’s what Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said about locking up the young forward.

The 21-year-old put up 12 goals and 14 assists in 53 games during his rookie season in 2024-25.

Nazar’s also made his mark internationally. The 5-foot-10 forward helped Team USA capture gold at both the 2024 World Junior Championship and the 2025 World Championship.

He posted eight points in seven games at the World Juniors. At the World Championship, he tallied 12 points in 10 games.

Chicago selected Nazar with the 13th overall pick in 2022. The organization clearly sees him as a cornerstone piece moving forward, committing nearly $47 million over the life of the contract.
