The NHL announced Monday that Aleksander Barkov captured his second consecutive and third career Selke Trophy. The Florida Panthers captain joins elite company as just the sixth player ever to win the award three times.
The Selke Trophy recognizes "the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game," as voted on by members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
Barkov previously won in 2021 and 2024. He now joins Patrice Bergeron (six wins), Bob Gainey (four), and Guy Carbonneau, Pavel Datsyuk, and Jere Lehtinen (three each) in the exclusive club.
His Panthers teammate Sam Reinhart finished second in voting, while Tampa Bay Lightning center Anthony Cirelli rounded out the finalists.
Forty-three players received at least one fifth-place vote in the balloting.
