The Calgary Flames shut out Utah 2-0 on Saturday behind Dustin Wolf’s 28-save performance for his fifth career shutout.

Yegor Sharangovich and Connor Zary provided the offense for Calgary, which improved to 6-2-1 over its last nine games.

Wolf has been exceptional in back-to-back starts after backup Devin Cooley handled three consecutive games. The goaltender has stopped 54 of 55 shots across his last two outings.

He delivered 26 saves in Thursday’s 4-1 victory over Minnesota.

Vitek Vanecek made 21 saves for Utah but suffered his sixth consecutive loss. The veteran goaltender now sits at 0-5-1 during that stretch.

Utah entered the contest with two straight wins but finished its six-game road trip at 2-4-0. The team was also shut out in St. Louis on November 29.

Calgary struck early when Sharangovich capitalized on a rebound just 16 seconds into the first period. Nazem Kadri’s wraparound attempt was stopped, but Sharangovich chipped the loose puck off the goalpost and across the line.

Wolf faced his toughest test late in the opening frame. He kicked out his pad to deny Jack McBain’s spin-around shot from the side of the net.

A minute later, Wolf made another pad save on a dangerous one-timer from JJ Peterka.

Zary sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 2:14 remaining in the third period.

Utah played without center Logan Cooley, who was a late scratch due to a lower-body injury. The team’s leading goal-scorer with 14 was shaken up Friday night during a 4-1 win in Vancouver when he collided with Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen.
