The Ottawa Senators handed the New York Rangers their fifth consecutive loss with an 8-4 victory at Madison Square Garden. Brady Tkachuk reached a career milestone, scoring his 200th regular-season NHL goal while adding three assists in the rout.

The St. Louis native, who’s set to represent Team USA at the Milan Cortina Olympics, helped Ottawa explode for four first-period goals.
Tkachuk set up Drake Batherson’s power-play goal just 2:18 into the game and Dylan Cozens’ score with 5.7 seconds left in the opening frame. Nick Jensen and Tkachuk also found the net between those markers.
The four first-period goals marked a franchise first for Ottawa in 33 seasons – never before had the Senators scored four times in a period at Madison Square Garden.
Home fans booed their team off the ice after the first intermission. The Rangers’ effort didn’t improve much until the outcome was already decided.
Jonathan Quick allowed six goals on 17 shots before getting pulled midway through the second period. Spencer Martin came in to replace him.
Quick wasn’t entirely to blame for New York’s eighth loss in nine games. Defensive breakdowns left the veteran
