Kiefer Sherwood recorded his second hat trick of the season, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders for their third consecutive win.
David Kampf also scored and Thatcher Demko made 21 saves to complete Vancouver’s sweep of all three New York-area teams this week. The Canucks defeated New Jersey 2-1 on Sunday and shut out the Rangers 3-0 on Tuesday.
Demko started all three games during the sweep.
Anders Lee broke up Demko’s shutout bid with 5:05 remaining in the third period. Ilya Sorokin finished with 26 saves for New York, which has lost two straight after winning six of seven games. The loss also ended the Islanders’ five-game home winning streak.
Canucks Jump Out Early
Vancouver built a 3-0 lead in the opening period. Kampf opened the scoring at 8:55 for his first goal of the season, followed by Sherwood’s first goal at 10:35 and his second at 15:47.
Lee scored his ninth goal of the season and 298th of his career in the third period to put the Islanders on the board.
Sherwood completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal for his team-leading 16th goal of the season. It’s his third career hat trick – he also scored three goals on October 31 in a 4-3 shootout victory over St. Louis.

Demko Continues Strong Play
Demko improved to 8-5-0 this season. He made 23 saves in Tuesday’s shutout victory over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
Vancouver’s three-game winning streak follows a difficult 2-8-1 stretch. All three wins have come after the team traded former captain Quinn Hughes to Minnesota one week ago.
The Canucks remained without leading scorer Elias Pettersson for the sixth consecutive game due to an upper-body injury.
What’s Next
The Canucks travel to Boston for Saturday night’s game against the Bruins.
The Islanders visit Buffalo on Saturday night.
