The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Wednesday that their home arena will be renamed Benchmark International Arena following a multiyear naming rights agreement with the mergers and acquisitions company.
The naming change takes effect immediately.
The building opened in 1996 and had been called Amalie Arena since 2014. It’s where the Lightning celebrated their 2021 Stanley Cup championship, the second of back-to-back titles.
Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. Benchmark International and Vinik Sports Group, which owns the Lightning, said their partnership includes more than $3 million in nonprofit contributions to benefit the Tampa Bay area.
Steve Griggs, CEO of Vinik Sports Group, called Benchmark “a well-respected brand with global reach and strong ties to the Tampa Bay community.”
Amalie Motor Oil will continue as a corporate partner of the organization.
