The NHL’s Department of Player Safety suspended Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley one game for punching Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk.
Stanley delivered a punch to Tkachuk during Saturday’s game. The hit caught Tkachuk off guard.

Officials assessed Stanley two minor penalties on the play. He received penalties for roughing and removing an opponent’s helmet.
Tkachuk got a 10-minute misconduct.
Calgary Flames forward John Beecher was also suspended one game for a similar play earlier the same day.
Stanley is having his best offensive season. The defenseman has seven goals and 13 points in 40 games.
He’s also been more physical this year. Stanley has 82 penalty minutes, which is already a career high.
Tkachuk has six goals and 19 points in 20 games this season. He’s also accumulated 22 penalty minutes.
The Senators captain will represent Team USA at the Olympics in February.
