The Dallas Stars beat the Calgary Flames 5-2 Thursday night, extending their winning streak to four games.
Casey DeSmith stopped 46 shots in net for Dallas, while Roope Hintz and Mikko Rantanen each contributed a goal and an assist.
Wyatt Johnston and Mikael Granlund also scored for the Stars, with Matt Duchene adding an empty-netter to seal the victory.
DeSmith got the start after Jake Oettinger made 42 saves in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Nazem Kadri scored both goals for Calgary.
Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf allowed 4 goals on 18 shots. Captain Mikael Backlund returned to Calgary’s lineup after missing six games with an upper-body injury.
The Flames had two potential goals disallowed before Kadri finally got them on the scoreboard.
Stars coach Peter DeBoer successfully challenged for goaltender interference when Blake Coleman appeared to score at 5:30 of the second period.
Earlier, a league review determined Calgary’s Connor Zary had kicked the puck into the Dallas net at 14:02 of the first period.
Dallas withstood heavy pressure from Calgary in the third period to secure their second win in two nights after defeating Edmonton on Wednesday.
The Flames couldn’t pull off what would have been their fifth straight comeback win despite outshooting Dallas.
Rantanen’s goal to make it 4-2 proved decisive, halting Calgary’s momentum after they had been pressing hard in the final frame.
Dallas has been one of the NHL’s hottest teams in 2024, losing just eight games in regulation since January 1. The Stars have gone 17-4-3 since January 24.
The Flames travel to Edmonton on Saturday, while the Stars head to Seattle for the first of two consecutive road games against the Kraken.
