The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Dakota Joshua from the Vancouver Canucks for a 2028 fourth-round pick, both teams announced Thursday.

The 6-foot-3 winger is signed through 2027-28 at a $3.25-million cap hit.

Joshua recorded seven goals and 14 points in 57 games last season. The 29-year-old missed the start of the campaign after undergoing surgery for testicular cancer.

He’s coming off a career year in 2023-24 with the Canucks, recording 18 goals, 32 points, and 245 hits in 63 games.

Joshua also contributed four goals and eight points in 13 playoff contests that season.

The Michigan native was originally drafted by Toronto 128th overall in 2014. The Maple Leafs traded Joshua’s rights to the St. Louis Blues for future considerations after he finished his collegiate career at Ohio State.

Joshua has recorded 40 goals and 78 points in 241 career games over parts of five seasons between the Blues and Canucks.

The acquisition brings Joshua back to the organization that originally selected him nearly a decade ago.
