Canada will face the United States in the gold-medal game. The U.S. beat Slovakia 6-2 in Friday’s other semifinal.
Finland took control early when Mikko Rantanen scored late in the first period. Erik Haula added a shorthanded goal in the second period that put Finland ahead 2-0.
Canada started its comeback when Sam Reinhart scored on the power play. The team dominated after that goal.
Canada outshot Finland 39-17.
Captain Sidney Crosby couldn’t play after suffering a lower-body injury in the quarterfinal. He wanted to play but wasn’t cleared by team doctors.
It’s unclear if Crosby will be available for Sunday’s gold-medal game.
Connor McDavid wore the captain’s “C” in Crosby’s place. He had two assists and now has 13 points in the tournament – an Olympic record for most points by an NHLer in a single Olympics.
