The Chicago Blackhawks avoided arbitration with restricted free agent goaltender Arvid Soderblom, announcing a two-year contract worth $2.75 million annually.

Soderblom’s arbitration hearing was scheduled for Monday.

The deal takes the 25-year-old netminder to unrestricted free agency after the 2026-27 season. He posted a .898 save percentage in 36 appearances last season.

Soderblom stopped 4.36 goals above expected, according to Evolving-Hockey.

The Swedish goaltender owns a .889 save percentage across 86 career NHL games. He’s spent all four of his NHL seasons with Chicago.

Soderblom projects as Chicago’s backup goaltender behind Spencer Knight next season. He could face competition if veteran Laurent Brossoit returns healthy.

Brossoit missed the entire 2024-25 campaign with a knee injury.

Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser remains Chicago’s only unsigned restricted free agent.
