The Colorado Avalanche forced a winner-takes-all Game 7 with a 7-4 victory Thursday against the Dallas Stars.
A bizarre own goal proved decisive midway through the third period. Stars forward Sam Steel attempted to clear the puck but it ricocheted off teammate Colin Blackwell and past goaltender Jake Oettinger, giving Colorado the lead.

Josh Manson and Cale Makar sealed the victory with empty-net goals in the final minutes.
Stars forwards Mikko Rantanen and Roope Hintz made history in the second period, each recording four points. They became the first teammates in NHL playoff history to tie the record for points in a period simultaneously.
The Avalanche dominated offensively throughout the contest, firing 48 shots on goal.
This marks the second time in the series Colorado has reached the 48-shot mark, matching their total from their 4-0 victory in Game 4.
Stars head coach Peter DeBoer brings a perfect 8-0 record in Game 7s into Saturday’s decisive matchup.
